10 ways to protect your peace
I believe protecting your peace is crucial to keeping your mental health intact long-term. Believing in yourself and having a sanctuary to breathe makes it easy to not rely on others. It enables you, when things go south, to still have your core foundation of inner peace :) It’s all about having healthy habits and knowing when to put walls up to protect but you are in control of this so the walls dont remain up when they don’t need to be.

number one: location
You need a place to retreat to whether that be your bedroom or whole house in general or even in a field that’s full of life and trees that you visit on your way back from school or work. Take moments to be conscious of this space and be grateful for it too, decorate it. Establish it as yours with posters lights anything that makes it your vibe and make sure it’s always clean and tidy as a messy room is a messy mind. Keep an eye out for future blogs on decluttering and maintaining your space.
number two: satisfied alone
Allow yourself to be ok alone, you don’t need to constantly be in a relationship or hanging out with friends to be happy and if you feel like you do then it’s time to do some self-reflection. Do some solo activities like reading or revision for example, even going out to the local shops. Work on your independence and don’t allow that inner voice to overrule you getting your independence. The reason having independence is so important is that people before us have been fighting for it for years. It’s a privilege, and we should embrace the fact we don’t need to rely on anyone but ourselves to succeed and grow. This is not to say shut down and never communicate with anyone it’s simply mastering being content with your aloneness.
number three: manifestations
Manifesting is something new to me and I can understand the sceptics but the basis of it is to change your mindset from negative and self-deprecating to positive and self-loving. This has its benefits as naturally and with time you will find yourself in luckier and better positions, seemingly with no effort. Creating a positive mind, however, does have its challenges but if you can master it, you will find yourself happier and in a better position as you are telling the universe you're open to love and a natural flow. If I could recommend anything to help bring peace this would be the first place I would start. By switching your mindset to positive you will start to feel and believe in the positivity and this sets you up for a glow-up from the inside out.
There are different ways to manifest. It takes practice. The best way to start is to find what works for you, eg. you could
make a vision board or create a scrap book using words and images to convey your aims
journal your goals or where you want to be in life
using and repeating positive affirmations helps to gradually retrain your thought patterns encouraging positivity.
These methods work towards the belief that you can fake it til you make it! Always use phrases/sentences that are in the present and reflect where you want to be so rather than saying I want to be confident when meeting new people you would say I am confident when meeting new people.
In terms of how often you should practice I recommend the 369 manifestation method - 3 times in the morning, 6 times throughout the day and 9 times in the evening.
number four: music
I believe that music and singing raises your vibrations. I will get into the vibration part later but in terms of music, I think it is beneficial to sing and listen to music. Make playlists of your favourite songs. It’s amazing how much joy the smaller things in life can give you.
number five: hobbies
A part of protecting your peace is filling your time with enjoyable things so you’re not constantly overthinking or filling your space and time with negativity. What things are you drawn to? Egs are drawing/painting, lego, crafts, sports such as netball, running, football, writing, watching films, reading etc. Do more of it and even create little passion projects so that you’re not only filling your time, but you're feeling a sense of achievement without any pressure of having to do it because it’s your choice.
number six: social media reduction
I can’t stress this one enough, if you're prone to anxiety don’t have meaningless relationships with random people on social media. When I say relationships I mean people who are mutual friends who you don’t normally see or speak to face to face and who you only talk to to get a fire emoji next to their name. The more people you have in your life the more people you have to manage and ensure you’re a good friend to and ensure they’re a good and genuine friend. It’s good to not have an overload of people in your life as it can raise your stress and anxiety. Focus on a core few good people. Remember - friends should make you feel good and happy. Don’t allow meaningless people to know your day-to-day activities. Additionally, the content we consume, whether we realise it or not can impact our lives negatively and influence our opinions negatively so that we don’t live in the most authentic way we can. It’s good from time to time to have a detox from social media.
number seven: confidence
No one is going to understand you like you so confidence is key to confirming yourself of your ability. Confidence is a journey and it doesn’t happen overnight. It takes years and it can fluctuate. My definition of confidence is being able to be sure of your decisions and to be able to convey your decisions and ability so much so that no one can tear that down because it stands alone with you. The biggest blockers of confidence are overthinking, negative thought patterns, guilt and regret. Letting these things go is key to starting your confidence journey. Look out for future blogs on confidence.
number eight: anxiety reduction
Anxiety takes a massive physical toll on your body and productivity. It is a destroyer of peace; it causes your body to shut down and disregards your progress whether that’s short-term or long-term depending on how prolonged it is. Anxiety comes from your internal thoughts and inner monologue. When a thought rolls into your brain, acknowledge it, accept it and then push it along. Make an active effort to do this. It takes more brain power than you think to do this on a day-to-day basis. Take note of the physical toll different thoughts take on you. For example, when something is massively overwhelming to me I have a huge adrenalin surge and my stomach can be painful. When this happens the best option is to sit, care for and baby yourself, give yourself love and attention. Breathwork is incredibly helpful to encourage the moment of anxiety to pass. Controlled breathing helps to turn off the sympathetic nervous system and reignites the parasympathetic nervous system. Look out for future collaboration blogs on breathwork. Recognising the signs of anxiety and giving yourself love and care does not make you weak. Awareness is a strength.
number nine: raised vibrations
Take note of your emotions. Signs your vibrations are low consist of emotions like sadness, stress, panic, self-sabotage, argumentative behaviour and hatred. If you’ve felt like this recently, make it a point to step by step flip it for yourself. This makes you instantly more attractive to others and yourself with high vibration emotions like gratitude, love, forgiveness in the moment and understanding. The best way to achieve these emotions is to practice them regularly. Forgive that one person you have a grudge with by trying to understand them. Humanise them like you would want someone to do to you. Name five things you're grateful for every night, be in nature, practice mindfulness, practice self care, the list could go on. Be creative and figure out more ways you can raise your vibrational energy. Remember some the guidance already mentioned above - hobbies, music, etc. all these raise your vibrational energy. Practicing meditation and mindfulness is a fantastic way to increase your vibrations. More on this area soon.
number ten: higher power
We all need something to believe in, I think it’s because we as humans like to make sense of the world we live in. Whether that’s god, spirit guides or science, as long as you're not hurting anyone and it’s a positive experience, having someone to look for in the darkness is an amazing resource in finding yourself. Faith is a beautiful thing and it should be recognised in your day-to-day life.
