How to be someone’s airport crush
The flight to your destination is where the holiday begins so you better start it right by looking good and feeling good in between the pain of long flights, security and check-ins. The best way to do that is to have a mini glow-up before your flight so here’s my night before the flight routine that guarantees to leave me looking good every time.
STEP ONE:
Spoiler! This one doesn’t start at night but morning doesn’t rhyme so, step one starts the second you get up out of bed. Get yourself on YouTube and do a 15-minute yoga session, to help strengthen your muscles, clear your mind and ready yourself for the day. When up in the air for hours it’s beneficial to move as much as you can before and after so your body doesn’t feel set in stone.
STEP TWO:
I always start the day with my morning skincare routine and lots of water which will help set a strong routine and promote healthy flow and gut balance.
TIP- As a last-minute packer myself, make sure all your clothes are packed and ready because my makeup and skincare won’t be until the morning so everything else needs to be done so life is stress-free.
STEP THREE:
Time for the everything shower!! These next few steps can be done the night before. I am already creating the ultimate everything shower blog post to see the step-by-step and every last product I use so you can get it perfect but for now, your version of an everything shower will do. The keys things for a before-holiday shower are to exfoliate, shave and the extra hair treatments/masks to leave your hair and body smooth and shiny. Post-shower I wrap my hair in a micro fibre towel and after ten minutes I unravel it and spray my hair with the Beauty Works ten-in-one spray and the Gisou conditioning spray. When my hair is half wet and half dry, I ease in the Gisou hair oil which is honestly worth the hype.
TIP- My secret for no-shave bumps, rashes or irritation is the Mallows beauty shaving cream followed by the Sol de Janeiro bum bum body scrub and finally the Sol de Janeiro bum bum cream; they all smell delicious!
STEP FOUR:
After my skin is fresh out of the shower, I cleanse with La Roche-posay Effaclar purifying cleansing gel and pop on a mask which will at the moment either be the Evelom rescue mask or Lushs’ Mask of Magnaminty for around 20 minutes topped off with some Pixis’ vitamin C eye patches where I didn’t spread the mask to give a brightening glow.
STEP FIVE:
This step is 100% my favourite step. I moisturise from head to toe, especially pre tanning sesh as any dryness will be exposed by the tan. I start on my face using a water spray followed by the Origins ginzing gel cream then my SPF 50+ Piz buin though, if I start my shower in the evening I use my Cerave pm facial moisturising lotion instead. On my body, I use the Sol de Janeiro bum bum cream; it smells heavenly and it applies so deeply smooth on the skin that it helps to massage it into the ankles, elbows and knees to help promote a glowy smooth tan.
TIP- go to a shop that sells Sol de Janeiro and smell every scent that you can get your hands on and find the one that’s most appealing to you. Don’t be bothered about what social media says the best one is and find the one that matches your energy and makes it your go-to scent (I buy everything Sol de Janeiro do in my favourite scent and will continue to do so till I’m old I’m sure.)
STEP SIX:
Now it’s time to tan! In terms of tanning products, I use the Molly Mae filter tanning mousse in the colour medium and I use the Jac Jossa tanning mitts (the big body kit and the small face mitt).
Tanning application:
I go from toe to head and start on my legs. If I start on my left leg I go from ankle to knee in circular motions with three pumps of tan on the mitt. I cover the whole circumference of my leg with the mitt on my hand (still in circular motions) until it’s semi-dry. This takes around three minutes for one part of the body which seems a lot but is worth it for no streak marks whatsoever. I then do knee to upper thigh taking extra care around the knee. Copy on the right leg.
For the stomach, I’d say that’s the easiest taking two pumps and circularly rubbing the mousse around your stomach and around to your lower back until you're satisfied.
Then moving on to arms and chest I start with the chest at one pump rubbing it into the area and up and around my neck until I’m happy I then move on to my arms pumping twice and rubbing around the whole circumference of my arms moving especially over the elbows making sure I wrap the mitt around my shoulders too. I then lift my arm and look in a lit-up mirror to make sure I’m getting the skin around and under my armpit. Arms are the places most people get wrong so I would advise spending a fair bit of time on both your arms.
For my back, I do as much as I can myself and if I can be bothered I ask someone to do that middle bit of my back.
Now for the face, I get my small tanning mitt and use one pump, however, instead of having the mitt on my fingers and rubbing I hold the mitt and rub in circular motions with my hand gripping it for extra motion, making sure to pay extra attention to your jawline and under your jaw so that it spreads seamlessly up to your ear.
STEP SEVEN:
Whilst I wait an hour for my tan to set enough, I take the time to whiten my teeth with the Hismile whitening strips I leave them for around half an hour. After the hours up, I dye my brows using the Schwarzkopf brow tint please read all the instructions before use and make sure to test before use. I brush my brows up and then follow the instructions to brush the dye through my brows I leave for about ten minutes and wash off with a cotton pad and hot water. Don’t feel obliged to use all the products you mix, a lot of the time, it’s not needed.
STEP EIGHT:
Right before you go to sleep use some pimple patches for any blemishes you have, this also sucks the tan out of your blemishes so it doesn’t block them. My ride or dies are Dots for spots, you won’t be seeing me use anything else for my blemishes overnight.
STEP NINE:
I then use my heatless curlers and transform my head of hair into tight curls to sleep in overnight. I’m also slightly extra and spray hair perfume and leave in conditioner and I swear it makes them hold for longer.
TIP- Just before I sleep, I select all the products I need in the morning and put them into categories: suitcase, hand luggage liquids and hand luggage non-liquids so I can just push them into the organisers in the morning.
step ten:
We’re onto the final step (yay) which is a cheeky lip mask before bed, I typically will use one of my Laneige lip masks or my Rhode salted caramel peptide treatment :)
Now you know all my secrets, get ready to be a hot biotch on your next flight xx
