top 15 products of 2024

The year 2024 is almost up… some products have made me happy to indulge in self-care and makeup wear… others not so much. I’m giving my take on what, in my opinion, the best products are of the current year. I’ve tried and tested many products, and these seem to stick out above the rest. I want to give honourable mentions to Gisou and Tropic, in particular, for being brands that have grabbed the interest of me and many other self-care lovers. They are my personal faves this year they always put me in a good mood whenever their products are used on my hair and/or skin. Every one of these products I would use 100 times over and would never get bored of.

The on-the-glow blush by Pixi melts into the skin. It bridges makeup and skincare by being light and smoothly applied to the skin. It gives a natural glow, capturing the light on your cheekbones without making you look sweaty or greasy. The formula blends into all elements of your base makeup, leaving no patchy, distorted areas. I love the more vibrant shades of this product as you can build or leave minimal; it gives you freedom to play with the contours of your face and brightens the flattering areas. It’s a long-lasting product that fits compactly into a purse or handbag, as its name fits the cause. I apply the product to a brush first for a lighter air-brushed effect however, if I want a more defined pop of colour, I smoothen the stick onto the apples on my cheeks and blend accordingly.

A product of pure luxury. If you’re looking for something to treat yourself with, this product is the one to go for. It smells amazing and doesn’t dry out the skin even after multiple use in a small time period.

I’ve always been hesitant with brow dyes. However, when I thought to give one a try, I was happily surprised with the outcome. The kit is set out professionally, making it easy. The delicate comb that comes in the kit allows you to identify and define each hair without dying the skin and making the brows uneven or patchy. After reading the instructions and applying a ratio of each element, your brows will look professionally done from home in no time at all.

Always a staple to my favourite lip combos. Adds an element of gloss and shine to my lips without it being over-consuming or gloopy. I like the watermelon sugar scent; it’s glittery, and it smells like pure heaven. What’s not to love?

Another Gisou favorite. Extra in the best possible way. It blends with other smell-infused products without overpowering them and getting down your throat. I am obsessed with the original honey as I feel it blends with vanilla, but I’ve heard great things about the rose scent. It makes me feel sophisticated and simply like ‘that girl’ whenever I decide to spray this product on my hair. It clings onto the hair, lasting all day without drying out my hair or altering the texture.

A thick and glossy product that ironically relays that same effect to the hair. Smells like a caramel vanilla fudge infusion, and that soapy shampoo smell lasts on the hair for multiple days. I always get compliments after I wash my hair with the bedhead, mostly for how good it smells. The product itself is careful with coloured hair and hydrates from the scalp till the ends.

Another staple to my lip combo: the Soulmatte lipstick has a beautifully creamy consistency that I haven’t found in any other drying matt lipstick. Lip mousse fits true to its name as the product spreads evenly on the lips without drying out the skin on your lips, causing cracks and irritation. When it does sink into your lips, it doesn’t budge, lasting for long hours without smudging or getting disrupted. This one was an unexpected favourite of mine, but ever since I first started using it, the texture has me hooked.

This product should be a standard in anyone and everyone’s skincare routine. Turn dry, cracking skin into clear and shiny. The creamy consistency is light on the skin and doesn’t leave it sticky after application it sinks in without being heavy or disruptive. Since I started this, I’ve noticed less dryness, especially in the wintertime. This product is beginner-friendly and easy to use. It will always be in my skincare drawer.

It honestly smells like a vanilla and almond cupcake. If you’re a vanilla girly, this product is a must. A couple of pumps on your ends leave ur hair bouncy, smooth and voluminous, as well as smelling like a luxury. It's one of the most favourite hair oils I’ve ever tried, purely for the bouncy and silky appearance it gives my hair with minimal effort.

This product gets partial credit for keeping my blemishes at bay. It glides onto the skin and, unlike most serums, doesn’t leave my skin sticky. Its smell resembles the deep sea, and tropic alone is exemplary of purely natural and skincare dedicated to tackling the root of the issue when skin is concerned. When a blemish shows up on my face, it’s met with this serum, which keeps my appearance natural, less red and blemish-free.

Now, onto the top five. This blemish-tackling product slightly overtakes my tropic serum. The Body Shop overnight skin peel leaves me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. I understand any scepticism when the word peel is involved in skincare as it sounds aggressive and painful however, I have never felt one ounce of irritation or disruption to my skin’s barrier. This product has a way of drying and tackling my spots without drying the rest of my face out, and that’s what I love about it. It’s simple and effective when used 2/3 times a week.

As far as teeth whiteners go, this one has always been my favourite. It gets rid of dark spots and light smells whilst also making my teeth feel extra clean and cared for. Teeth whitening strips also have a reputation for causing teeth sensitivity. However, this does the complete opposite. It’s easy for you and effective.

I am constantly recommending this product to everyone I know and their mothers. Its gel-like consistency tackles dirt on the skin and purifies it so no bacteria swims around. There’s something about it that just works for all skin types, it’s gentle yet tackles sweat and oil. It’s the perfect balance of combination, and I love love love it. If this isn’t in your bathroom, it should be!

I will always have an SPF in my skincare, and the second I started using this one, it changed the game. Tropic again with amazing smelling products, and this one is no exception. It smells amazing and glides on the skin with a light formula without drying over and flaking off your skin. It is a perfect base for your makeup routine, having the perfect SPF 50 protecting your skin underneath. It protects your skin and looks good doing it.

The best product. Body, face, hair, everything. I mix it with my body and face lotions, and it leaves my skin, especially after a shower, smooth and supple. It’s multifunctional and has the best consistency to build up and moisturise every inch of your body. It’s an all-year-round staple that leaves you smelling good as it’s a good base that clings onto perfume aswell. It hydrates and nourishes.
